Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the Budget Matcher tool

What does the daily budget include?
The daily budget covers four key categories: accommodation (hotels, hostels, or resorts), food (all meals and beverages), local transport (taxis, buses, metro), and entertainment (sightseeing, attractions, activities). International flights are not included in the daily budget estimate.
How are the cost estimates calculated?
Our estimates are based on aggregated data from multiple travel cost databases, government tourism statistics, and real traveler reports. Costs are updated regularly and reflect the average spend for each travel style. Prices shown are in USD and are per-person averages.
What's the difference between the three travel styles?
πŸŽ’ Budget: Hostels/guesthouses, street food and local eateries, public transport, free or low-cost attractions.
🏨 Mid-Range: 3-star hotels, casual restaurants, mix of taxi and public transport, popular paid attractions.
✨ Luxury: 5-star hotels/resorts, fine dining restaurants, private transport, premium experiences and VIP tours.
What do the green and amber markers mean on the map?
🟒 Green markers indicate destinations that are within your selected daily budget β€” these are a perfect match. 🟑 Amber markers show destinations that are slightly above your budget (up to 25% more) β€” still worth considering if you can stretch your spending slightly.
Can I use this tool for currencies other than USD?
The Budget Matcher currently displays all costs in US Dollars (USD). For detailed local currency conversions, click on any destination card to access the full cost breakdown page, where you can convert to 30+ currencies including EUR, GBP, TRY, JPY, and more.
